If you want to score a meeting with Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.), know this: His scheduler/office manager, Elizabeth Becton, is to be addressed by her full name -- not Liz or any other variant.

Quit apologizing and never call me anything but Elizabeth again. Also, make sure you correct anyone who attempts to call me by any other name but Elizabeth. Are we clear on this? Like I said, it's a hot button for me.

And please don't call the office and not leave a message. My colleague told me you called while I was away at the Ladies' room. I do sometimes leave my desk.

Either you have to be nuttier than a friggin' fruit cake to work for Representative "Bagdad" Jim McDermott, or you simply become that way working for him.

Here's a look at another one of Washington State's finest trough dwellers.

Some people don't like their name shortened. Get over it and call them by their full name.

Can we interject our favorite qualifier into the address? I'm thinking that maybe Liz should be "Elizabeth Call Me By My Full Name Becton." Is she going to want us to use a hyphenated name when you get married? Then we can tack that on to something like, "Yobiotch, Yeah You Elizabeth Call Me By My Full Name Jingle-Heimer-Becton."

Ah. Poor Elizzzzzzaaaabeth. I use to know a guy who didn't like to be called Marv. He wanted to be called Marvin. We made a point of calling him Marv just to watch him get irritated. Reminds me of Boxer wanting to be called senator because she worked so hard to get that handle.

Is conservatism the ideology of phony outrage and schadenfreude?

What in the hell does such an "every day people" comment like that have to do with the story? This is an ULTRA- LIBERAL Representative's staffer acting like she's a god too!

Hi maggie! Thanks for stopping by. Semper Fi!

That's really what this is about isn't it: attacking liberals. Elizabeth doesn't want to be called Liz, and wants you to leave a message. Outrage over that is pure opportunism.

The review was right, in fact, Elizabeth Becton is an aide to Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington State. Whatever you do, don't call her Liz, because she goes insane. After an e-mail with a staffer from some organization called her Liz in an email, she responded that she didn't like the name, and after the man apologized she continued, exchanging 19 emails in total about how she didn't like to be called Liz. Since she works for the government, she is paid with tax dollars, and there are REAL problems for these people to deal with. She's still employed, but many would give short term loans to see go away.
